Crisp County High Student Gives Back to Her Community

Shakeila Tolbert, CTI student, at Crisp County High School has worked hard this semester to organize and stock the Gateway emergency clothing closet. In January, she got other students to help her get the closet in usable order after the gateway center moved to it's new location next to Dr. Bailey's office. She has continued to work on sorting and organizing the donations given to the center throughout this semester. In addition to her organization efforts, Shakeila has also started a JEANS drive at CCHS. She is collecting jeans size 4T and up throughout the rest of this school year. She felt that jeans donations would be the best because everyone wears jeans and they never go out of style. To date, she has collected over 100 pair of jeans. When asked why she chose to do this project, Shakeila stated, "Because I love children and it breaks my heart to know that some children don't have the clothes they need for school. By helping the center get their closet ready and stocked, I can help children."
